Our customers seem to prefer the humble sandwich
We have now completed our first financial quarter of trading at our coffee shop in Oxford. It was nail-biting stuff to start with as we willed people to emerge through the doors. Our girls even took to the streets handing out discount vouchers and tempting titbits to lure new trade. However word is slowly spreading about Oxford’s best kept secret which brings new faces and hopefully new friends. Debbie our manager has been busy asking for feedback and tweaking the menu to suit.
As well as our Fair-trade coffee, tea is still as popular as ever and we have now increased our range. We now also stock ITSU noodle pots a perfect lunchtime quick bite if you are pushed for time. For the school holiday’s kids meal packs are available with a sandwich, juice, fruit and snack for just £3.50.
Popcorn grab bags and flavoured liquorice were a bit to left of field as our checkout tempters and have now been replaced with a range of Montezuma’s chocolate bars. The chilli and lime is a personal favourite of mine closely followed by the butterscotch. Baguettes also failed to ignite the taste buds of our customers who seem to prefer the humble sandwich. Mind you we are in the heart of Oxford so maybe it’s a touch of all things British!
To sum up. Our venture into retail sales has been an interesting journey and no matter how much planning and preparation is involved at the outset there is always room for improvement. With so much competition on the high-street and the public appreciating top quality produce we are definitely being kept on our toes.
Why not pop in and see us? The café is open Monday to Friday 9 -5 and Saturday 10 – 4.
